Cecelia Lin

My name is Cecelia Lin. I am 11 years old and in 5th grade at the Fifth Grade Centre in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. I started playing the drums, piano, ukulele, and guitar at age 6, and I began playing the marimba when I was 8. Last year, I took up the vibraphone. I have performed with my older sisters at summer concerts starting in our backyard in 2022 and during visits to Taiwan in 2023 and 2024. In these concerts, I sang and played guitar, ukulele, piano, and drums, and in the summer of 2024, I also played the marimba. In Taiwan, we performed with some adult musicians, and the government helped fund our concert. I have also participated in Christmas concerts for several years, including last year when I played “American Patrol” and “Satin Doll” in marimba duets with my percussion teacher. Earlier this year, my teacher moved to Japan and invited me to play “In the Mood” as a duet during her farewell concert. Among all my instruments, I love playing the marimba the most. I feel very happy when people clap for me because it means they enjoyed my music.
